Alexandra Levits Water Cooler Wisdom Avoid These Career Regrets Today

Alexandra Levit's Water Cooler Wisdom Avoid These Career Regrets Today In the 21st century, we have more freedom than ever in terms of how we manage our careers. Theoretically, this should lead to fewer regrets when it’s all said and done. But these five regrets remain career pitfalls for many, and you would be wise to reflect upon them before making your next career move. Avoiding these career regrets will help you find job satisfaction. I should have given my dream a fair shot Those who yearn to pursue a talent or launch a business often don’t take the plunge because they fear risk and/or failure. This feeling is legitimate, but it can be countered by taking one small step toward your dream at a time. I should have quit a long time ago You might be holding on to an unsatisfying or emotionally draining job because the economy has limited your options and you need the money, but be wary of staying in such a position for years. You spend more time working than doing anything else, so it shouldn’t make you miserable. I should have taken responsibility for my own happiness Passive individuals pursue the path of least resistance. However, they later wish they’d taken control and been more proactive about their professional growth. If you’re waiting around for your boss to appreciate you or another employer to hand you a better opportunity, you should remember that no one has the power to change your life or reinvent your career for the better but you. The Importance of Social Feedback Anyone can talk in abundance, but that doesn’t mean that others are listening. Social networks aren’t about speaking, rather they are about conversations. It is only through conversation that you can truly develop your online presence and further promote your brand. What does it take to get the attention of the audience? In principle, you must be able to offer the audience what they want to see and hear. But, how you do this will depend specifically on the nature of your audience. What do they like? What interests do they have? From there, you must be able to connect the dots and familiarize these incentives with your brand. Pay attention to feedback Feedback allows you to target specific audience interactions according to posted material, topics, and a methodology that appeals to your audience. But once you have that feedback, what you do with it will ultimately determine your social success. You must effectively engage the audience, and to do so, you must be able to analyze feedback. Throughout the social world, analytic tools are available through specific sites and even management dashboards. These tools allow you to track your social presence and your audience’s reaction to them. What does your audience say about you? What doesn’t your audience say about you? Remember that feedback comes in silence as well as the sound of modest appreciation. The last thing you want is for your audience to ignore your brand- which is the most common aspect when a brand presents material that lacks interest. If you can’t develop interest, you can’t engage with the audience and that means you can’t maintain online visibility. Apply feedback to tune your strategy Establishing yourself effectively requires that you are able to present brand material that appeals to the audience. Each social site has a unique audience, and thus would require different material with a unique approach. Consider your Linkedin audience, which is primarily business oriented. Here, networking is done amongst personal brands and businesses that are looking for specific characteristics in their network partners. While you may feel compelled to discuss what you enjoy, it is more effective to give the audience what they want to hear and see. As you tune your social marketing strategies, you will begin developing proof through word of mouth marketing, as the audience will begin interacting with you and promoting you through their own networks. Proof is what an audience appreciates more than anything else- because they are far more incentivized by their peers and networking partners. Proof is established by how your audience reacts to you- and how you engage with them. By gathering and analyzing networking feedback, your brand will be far more successful when engaging.. Not every social site is the same, and each requires its own unique approach. With the right methods and social marketing strategies, you can provide word of mouth proof that your brand has the answers and expertise to warrant someone’s valuable attention. Setting Up a Multi-User Video Conference

Setting Up a Multi-User Video Conference People have to meet with other people from time to time, even if they usually work alone. Meetings enable them to accomplish what they cant get done on their own. In todays business environment, with offices, vendors, and clients spread out over a wide area, it can be inconvenient to schedule face-to-face meetings. More and more businesses are turning to video conferencing to save on travel expenses and employee downtime while on the road. With so many different tools available for virtual meetings. It can be difficult to find the right combination to suit your needs. There is no one technological solution that works for every kind of meeting. Choosing tools So you need to consider some basic questions, like the ones posed by Guided Insights, in order to choose the best tools for each meeting. How many people will participate? A service like Skype may be perfectly adequate for a meeting of half a dozen people. The more people involved, the more elaborate must be the technological tool that makes it work. On the other hand, it is not economical to have to purchase equipment for maximum capacity and then need it for only a small portion of your meetings. What do participants need to share? Will the meeting be based on conversation? Or will people be collaborating on writing, editing, or annotating a document? Preparing presentation slides or video? And will everyone be able to share, or can one or two people speak and everyone else just listen? Is the meeting a one-time event, or part of a continuing collaboration? And is everyone a member of the same organization, or is it necessary to coordinate more than one companys conferencing tools? Will participants be in their offices? In a conference room? At home? And what will they use to participate? Some may use a desktop computer, others a tablet or a cell phone, still others a speaker phone or other technology. Best practices for planning a conference Webjunction suggests additional best practices for online conferences. How many rooms do you need? Will there be breakout sessions? The attendees will need all of the necessary hotlinks, just as they would need a schedule and map of the conference center for a physical meeting. There will always be technological glitches. Use your experience to anticipate as many as possible and make contingency plans. Provide clear lines of communication so you can know about problems as quickly as possible. Both presenters and participants will need technical support. Therefore, every session needs a producer to handle the technology. Every presenter needs a host to greet participants and keep track of questions and comments. Some one person needs to be in charge to make sure the technology works, to gather evaluations, and, if the meeting is recorded, make sure that the recording is properly distributed and archived. Using a virtual meeting room According to Telepresence 24, virtual meeting rooms are a cost-effective self-service way to conduct a large-scale virtual meeting. They require the use of a video bridge, or multiple control unit. It allows you to control a conference from a single location that actually takes place in multiple locations. Videoconference with many participants can require up to 6Gbps of bandwidth. The video bridge controls this bandwidth, adjusting it so that each participant receives high-quality performance. The earliest video bridges were hardware-based and usually very expensive. More recently, companies like Blue Jeans can provide cloud-based multiuser video conferencing for IT using software that can provide considerable savings while boosting productivity for your IT department. A software video bridge is scalable. You will not have to have more capacity for any given meeting than you can use, and your largest meetings will not be hampered by hardware with insufficient capacity. You wont have to manage resource scheduling, either. You will be controlling the meeting from a single location, but, of course, users work from many locations. They are all likely to have different hardware and different operating systems. The recent rise in the use of mobile equipment only adds complication. It is not easy to get all of these devices to work together, so interoperability is an absolute requirement in the modern business world. Whatever technology you use, make sure that you understand how to take full advantage of what it offers. Know its limitations, too, so that to that they dont hinder the meeting. Make sure that presenters and attendees dont have to be concerned about technology to the extent that it takes focus from the purpose and content of the meeting. The more setting up you can finish before the day of the meeting, and the more you test everything, the fewer unpleasant surprises the meeting will present to you or anyone else. Do You Feel the Best During Your Birthday Month Take this Survey... - Kathy Caprino

Do You Feel the Best During Your Birthday Month Take this Survey... Greetings! I have a question for you, and Id love to hear your answers. Can you help me answer this question? Do you feel physically at your best and happiest during your birthday month each year? Yes or No I ask this as June is my birthday month, and I have observed for years that I feel absolutely at my best physically and emotionally during this month, each year. I LOVE the weather, and so enjoy the coming of summer, the relaxation, restoration, fun, and all that June represents to me. My mood is definitely elevated during June, and I feel stronger, happier, and ready to take on anything. Ive been told by a wonderful astrologer I know that everyone feels most comfortable and at their best physically (with the weather and otherwise) during their birthday month, because that is time in which they emerged into physical form in this lifetime. Its no coincidence that we resonate most closely with that time of year. Id love to hear your thoughts on whether this is true for you or not. Do you feel best during your birthday month? Do you feel your mood improve? Do you love the weather that your birthday month brings? Please let me know your thoughts, and if this is your birthday month (and even if not), hope you ENJOY it to the fullest!! All best wishes,Kathy
